Electric Boys are a hard / funk / glam / metal band from Stockholm, Sweden who were founded in 1987 by Conny Bloom & Andy Christell. The boys have given us 9 studio albums & 30 singles in a career spanning 38 years, currently the boys are working on a new album to follow 2023’s Grand Explosivos and have songs written but not laid down yet. To wet our appetites for the incoming new record the boys have set out on tour to bring us a taste of what to expect ffom this incoming new slab of rock n roll from these 4 dudes from Stockholm, tonight the boys stop off in Glasgow @ Classic Grand, I was lucky enough to grab a chat with Conny & Andy to chat all things music, touring, having no wife and melting some faces with their electrifying brand of funk / glam / metal music that is just satisfying to the soul, as the light dim and the intro music flows from the house PA the boys stroll on stage to rapturous applause as the steamroll into –

Psychedelic Eyes – Jolle rumbles on the drum kit and brings us cymbal rolls that set the scene as the boys drop in and kick off this awesome night of sizzling rock n roll that has a real cool groove to it. A dark, delicious, meaty bassline is wrapping itself around this real foot stomping bruiser as the boys deliver a killer opening track, the gravelly, soulful vocals from Conny really let this track breathe as the boys join in on backing vocals to really elevate this killer piece of music. Conny steps forward and offloads with a slick, clean, polished solo that gets us all warmed up and ready for the onslaught that is coming our way, Andy leans in and drops epic funk laden silky smooth grooves that just let us know that Electric Boys are in the house, the place erupts in a hail of clapping, hollering as the boys take the applause as we roll into –

Groovus Maximus – A pounding snare drum punch coupled with a deep bass kick gets this sludgy groover off the ground as Conny lets his gritty, rasping vocals let this beast cut free. The twin guitar riffs are letting us know that the boys mean business tonight as they deliver a real kick ass show that I’m sorry to say if you missed it – shame on you, the dark, velvety bassline is coming through and giving the track depth, swagger and a real gutsy tone as we are bopping along to this real infectious track that just whisks us away to somewhere new as the funky, grooving licks really get us all hot under the collar as the boys look out and see all the smiling rock faces greeting them as they deliver a real no nonsense in your face groovefest to really get us all rocking and rolling, the place is heating up as Conny & the boys thank us for coming out to party with them as we stroll into –

Ready To Believe – Jolle again brings this blistering track to life with a thunderous cymbal crashing tone that really gets the juices oozing as this foot stomping beast is unleashed. There is a real sludgy, gritty guitar lick that is pouring from the stage as this glorious number comes at us with all it’s might and vigour, the snare drum punches are filling the air as the boys settle into their stride and bring us a real crunching, rock number that is just on fire. Martin steps forward and hits us with slick, clean guitar licks that are off the scale good. The gravelly, bluesy vocals fit this venue perfectly as the boys are really gelling together and show us why they have been doing this for 38 years, we are getting our groove on and that’s no lie as the boys bring the heat to Glasgow tonight as we let ourselves go and just bow to the music of Electric Boys, next –

Super God – The rocking groove continues with this rhythm busting monster as the snare drum punches rain down on us as this shredding beast unfolds with all it’s might and fury. The boys have really settled into their groove as they are kicking in the doors with a real mix of blues, funk, glam & metal tunes to suit everyone in the venue tonight, the funking bassline is wrapping itself around us tonight as the twin salvo guitar licks really give us chills as the boys really give us a show to remember as we sing back the lyrics as the smiling 4 piece lap up all the adoration from the swelling audience tonight. The boys are really giving it to us tonight with all their might as they slam into Glasgow with a vengeance tonight, the place is going nuts for these 4 groove kings as we roll into –

I’ve Got A Feelin – In comes a real dirty, heavy ended guitar riff that gets this foot stomping groover off the ground as the punchy rhythm section controls the groove from the back of the room. There are cool backing vocals to really elevate this number as the tempo changes pace and reallly delivers a soulful tone that has killer bass grooves that just wrap themselves all over this fist pumping rock n roll classic, the place is sweating and really getting into the boys as they take us through their impressive back catalogue of killer hits that just hits the spot let me tell you. Conny’s gravelly, soulful vocals are just giving this track some depth, emotion & swagger as we really feel the groove oozing from the stage tonight, coming at us next –

Electrified – Conny chats with the audience and says he expects it to be a hot night as a real funking deep bassline drops in and launches this arrangement to this swelling, happy audience. We get a cool Rush / AC/DC intro that takes us by surprise as the boys watch the faces on this funking, blues explosion as the place is bopping up and down and swaying from side to side, the rhythm section is pounding away at the back of the room and really controlling the groove as it oozes from the stage. The cool, sultry vocals really give this track some soul as a slick, clean guitar solo flows effortlessly through the track as the boys drop the hammer on this epic track that is just setting Classic Grand on fire tonight. Conny leads the way and gets the crowd to sing back to him and we duly oblige as he tells us we need to be louder which brings a huge cheer from this fantastic crowd, we stroll into –

You Spark My Heart – The boys tune up and turn to us and let go with a real haunting, sweet guitar lick that is joined by Conny’s killer vocals as the rhythm section joins the party with a real pounding snare drum punch that brings the track to life. A real dark, delicious, groovy bassline is wrapping itself around this awesome arrangement as the boys just give us what for tonight as we feel the energy pulsing through the venue tonight, the tempo is a real foot stomping number that takes us on a journey through the cool lyrics that are telling their own story. The boys are just driving their juggernaut right through the heart of Glasgow with a real varied, rocking setlist that is just on the money, the place is just going nuts for these 4 amigos as they give us what we want tonight, up next –

Rags To Riches – A killer groove oozes from the stage as the boys unleash hell in this foot stomping beast as the cymbal crashes fill the air and let this awesome track come to life. The tempo is a real funking affair as the boys bring the heat in this sludgy groove laden number as the bassline wraps itself around the whole track as we get our funk on for sure, the slick, funky guitar licks are just telling their own story as the boys up the anty with this soaring beast that just builds and builds as the boys really give it to us tonight. The rhythm section is kicking in the doors with it’s awesome groove as the snare drum punches hit us straight in the face as the groove oozes onto the floor with a cool, slick, rasping guitar tone that is just off the chart good as the crowd sings back to Conny & the boys as we show the boys some love, up next is a real classic number –

Mary In The Mystery World – Conny steps up and chats with the crowd and tells us the next track is about a girl as he brings us a sweet clean guitar lick that just erupts with a pounding groove. The rhythm section is bringing the heat as the snare drum punches combine with a deep bass kick that has delicious bass grooves that really let the track breathe, the cool mellow vocals are really putting smiles on faces tonight let me tell you as the place gets it’s groove on with this real emotion filled rocker track that is just building and building as the boys shift through the gears and deliver a real funky rocking number that allows Conny to come front and centre and hit us with a spellbinding guitar solo that just wraps itself around this excited audience tonight. We are feeling the tempo flow effortlessly through the venue tonight as the boys give as a real epic set that has us all hot and bothered for sure, we stroll into –

Domestic Blitz – Conny steps forward and tells us this is a newish number as we cheer and holler as the strack comes to life with a real shredding guitar lick that brings the rhythm section into play. The cool, meaty bassline is handing us a real funking tone as this snare driven beast just erupts and springs into life, the boys are getting the place moving as they deliver a real foot stomping, no nonsense groove track that has depth, attitude and swagger as we bop along to this cool newish number that is really getting us moving. the place has really embraced the boys as it has been a couple of years since we last saw the boys but it was most definitely worth the wait, we are nearing the end of this short but bustling set as we stroll into –

Angel In An Armoured Suit – A cool slick guitar lick oozes from the stage as the boys hit us with a real gutsy riff that changes pace with Conny coming in with his soaring vocals as the boys bring the backing vocals. The rhythm section is commanding the groove with a solid snare drum kick as the place sings back the lyrics as the groove number builds and builds as we really embrace the boys, the bass is handing us a real cool funking groove that wraps itself around this epic arrangement as the boys give us all they have with their infectious riffs and pounding bass kicks as this rocking number fills every corner of this cool venue tonight. The place is sweating as Conny asks us to help him and the boys out as we sing back the chorus as we feel the energy rise in the place tonight as we come to the epic night ending track –

Lips n Hips – A pounding bass kick oozes from the stage as Conny steps up to the mic and bellows out everybody say Oh Yeah, Oh Yeah as we sing it back as this killer anthem comes to life. The full on bassline is hitting us with a real grooving, dark beat as the place readies itself for the onslaught that is coming from these for renegades tonight, the place is now in full funking mode as this real dirty, sludgy mover brings the place to life as we are really getting into the whole Electric Boys fever which is just on the money for sure. The tempo is the perfect way to bring the house down on a short but epic night of glam / funk / hard night of rocking tunes with a little banter thrown in for good measure, this has been a blast for sure and I hope it’s not too long before they are back on our shores again.Big thanks goes to Peter @ ShockCityProductions for the invite as it’s always a pleasure.
