Review By Smudge Smith
Bogwife come out of the Viking heartland of Aalborg, Denmark and have been going since 2018. They put out their first slab of stoner/psych in 2020 and this release is their third full length effort.
They open with the title track which gets going on a mighty groove before singer/guitarist Mikkel Munk Iversen gives us his way back-in-the-mix wail before the bluesier ‘Shivering’ which has a psych vocal drenched in reverb. ‘No Church’ is low and slow almost doom like before another heavy groove on ‘Light Of Day’ and the standard blues of ‘Heavy BurdenBlues’. ‘Ages’ gives us a shuffle and something to move to before ‘Agony’ let’s bassman Jonathan Hansen lay down a line before the guitars of Iversen and Morten Nielsen mirror the bassline and they’re off on a wonderful stoner/psych journey. ‘Chrysalis’ continues the journey on beautiful, melancholic, psych/blues that builds through passages and movements featuring some stunning axework from Nielsen.

A solid slab of psych/doom/blues with some crushing riffs and swinging grooves that make a difference. This is worth anyone’s money just as long you have enough left for an eighth and some papers. Light one up and enjoy.
