Review By Darren McIntyre
Stonetrip are a hard rocking outfit from Melbourne, Australia, and were brought to our attention in 2019. The guys are a rocking originals band, and so far they have given us new offerings Runaway & Nightmare, which I reviewed for you way back in May, which garnered a lot of attention. The boys have honed their craft by gigging alongside bands such as Rose Tattoo, Choirboys, Ted Mulry Gang, The Black Sorrows, Models and many more. The boys have been hard at it in the studio and bring us this absolute banger, Postcards, which I will be reviewing for you today.
Postcards – The track erupts into action with a real dirty, gritty guitar riff that lets the rhythm section lean in and hit us with a punchy snare drum beat that just tells us that this is going to be a banger from the off. Mark lets his gravelly, rock-filled vocals lead the track off down the road as we feel the energy dripping from this foot-stomping rock ‘n’ roll juggernaut. The low end is hitting us with cool, meaty funk tones that really give this arrangement an edgy, funk feel, which is just awesome. The guitar solo midsection is just letting the track take us to another place as we feel the depth and real attitude coming from this track as the killer backing vocals really give the track something to shout about. The band are sounding tight, on form and ready to melt faces once again, as this track will prove testament to that.
