Bywater Call are a powerhouse 7-piece southern soul, roots rock band from Toronto, Canada. In 2023 the band played 96 shows in 10 countries, 89 cities, 19 US states & 3 Canadian provinces and performed a live stream for the famed German TV show Pockpalast. They have performed on Joe Bonamassa’s Keeping The Blues Alive cruise; Meghan & Dave opened for Southern California rockers Robert Jon & The Wreck on their sold-out European tour. The band brought us their first new release of 2024 in the form of Holler and followed that with As If, Everybody Knows & Sweet Maria from their incredible album Shepherd. The band release their first studio single of 2025 in the form of Hold Me Down, which I will be reviewing for you today.

Hold Me Down – The track kicks into life with a cool cymbal snap that comes armed with a snare drum tap that just allows this incredible track to open and flow. We have all the boys chipping in with a phenomenal brass section that just elevates the track to another level with ease. Meghan leans in with her incredible vocals as this arrangement just blossoms into a real solid, blues-filled groover track that gives you that warm tingly feeling as the tone just wraps itself around you and really tells us that Bywater Call are an incredible 7-piece outfit that are riding on a crest of a wave with everything they produce. The cool, dark, brooding bassline wraps itself around the musicality that this awesome outfit produces as they give us a track that lets you believe you are in a smoky, blues-filled club as you take your lady round the dancefloor to this incredible piece of music that will have you reaching for the repeat button instantly. The band are on tour later this year so do yourself a favour and go get a ticket to a show as you won’t be disappointed.
