He Rides A Pale Horse
Release Date – 16th January 2026
Review by Linda McDermott
Have you heard of FangSlinger yet? No? Well, let me enlighten you. FangSlinger is a UK-based band forging a distinctive sound where dark western, gothic Americana and hard rock collide. Their debut EP, We Are the Night, introduces a world of outlaw anti-heroes, built on groove-driven riffs, rich three-part harmonies, and cinematic storytelling.
Imagine Guns N’ Roses, Black Stone Cherry, and Johnny Cash thrown into a melting pot, and you’ll get a sense of FangSlinger’s knack for blending influences into something genuinely compelling and melodic. Formed in 2024, the band has wasted no time getting their music out there, releasing a string of cracking singles alongside their debut EP. Tracks such as We Are the Night, As the Crow Flies, Bloodsucker Blues, and Bare Your Teeth show their heavier edge. This track, however, reveals a slower, more stripped-back side of FangSlinger. Still steeped in their outlaw spirit, it highlights their songwriting strength, harmonies, and gift for storytelling. What’s not to like?
FangSlinger (lead vocals)
BloodRose (vocals, harmonica, percussion)
HangMan (guitar, vocals)
The band says, “He Rides a Pale Horse is a stripped-back, atmospheric track that explores the loneliness of Death as a character within the FangSlinger universe. Blending acoustic roots with cinematic western elements and a powerful full-band lift, the song moves between intimate storytelling and widescreen drama. It’s one of the band’s most emotional and reflective moments, a haunting look at the burden carried by the Pale Rider himself.”
From the opening moments, this track gets its hooks into you. A laid-back, gently strummed guitar sets the mood before FangSlinger steps in to unfold the story. It moves along beautifully, with harmonies that lead you into a chorus that refuses to leave your head. The vocals are clean, allowing the lyrics to stand out and making the storyline easy to follow. I like that. The song has a great tone to it that has me foot tapping along from the first play, pulling me deeper into the story and leaving a lasting impression.
If this is your first taste of FangSlinger, it’s a perfect laid-back introduction, and one that should send you straight to explore their full back catalogue. As if their songs weren’t enough, FangSlinger’s shows are an immersive and theatrical experience, set against desert graveyard backdrops, with each member inhabiting their distinct character. Fans are welcomed into this growing mythology
under the banner of All Souls Welcome, a message that has already helped build a dedicated underground following. The band will be gigging throughout the year and appearing at various festivals over the summer, including Call of the Wild, Wildfire, and Rockwich, so be sure to catch them while you can.
