Review By Darren McIntyre
John ‘The Mayor’ Corabi is a rock ‘n’ roll frontman who has brought his vocal talents to some of the world’s most iconic bands as he lets his charm and charisma ooze from the very first note to the very last. John has assembled a who’s who of musicians to bring us the best sound possible for his first full-length debut solo album, New Day, slated for release 24th April, and to coincide with the release, John is heading out on a European tour to bring us a collection of his back catalogue as well as new material from this killer slab of rock ‘n’ roll. From the album we have had the single When I Was Young, and today John follows that with the blistering new single That Memory, which I will be bringing you today.
That Memory – A foot-stomping rhythm section kicks in the doors as this gravelly-toned rock ‘n’ roll bruiser erupts and lets John unleash his awesome vocals that let the track breathe. The groove is just raw, punchy and really tells us the mayor is firing on all cylinders as he sets out his stall and brings a fist-pumping freshness to this rockin’, blues-infused piece that just gets the juices flowing. The cool, meaty, delicious bassline drops in and hits us with a real funky groove that just lets the tone build as a slick, crisp guitar lick weaves its way through this harmonious piece as John digs deep and brings us a well-thought-out, melodic track that really ticks all the boxes as we stamp our feet to this real infectious arrangement that is on the money. The pounding rhythm section really commands the track from the get-go as we feel the energy pulsing through the song as it delivers a no-nonsense beat that will have us reaching for the repeat button for sure.
