Review By Darren McIntyre
Oli Brown is a guitarist / singer-songwriter / mix engineer / producer from Norfolk, England, who has been active in the music industry since 2005. Oli has been successful as a solo artist as well as part of RavenEye and opening for the one and only Joe Satriani, but he decided that being part of a collective (see what I did there?) was the best way forward. The band has released 3 EPs, Prelude, Prologue & Epilogue, with a full album currently in production. The boys have been tearing up stages around the country and are opening up for many of the country’s best artists. The boys are hard at work in the studio preparing for their Headline UK Tour that kicks off on the 16th April @ The Crauford Arms, Milton Keynes, and rolls all the way through till May 3rd, finishing @ Live Rooms in Chester. To whet our appetites for the upcoming tour, the boys drop their killer new single Cracks, which I will be bringing you today.
itsCracks – A crisp, mesmerising guitar lick wanders through the intro as the drum fills let the track come to our attention as Oli drops in with his soulful, smouldering vocals that really let the track breathe. The cool snare drum punches let the groove build as the boys kick in the doors with a real rocking track that just catches us off guard as the tone, tempo and texture really deliver a mellow arrangement that really tells its own story. The whole track is a real thought-provoking number that takes us on a ride of emotions that wrap themselves around us as the boys dig deep and really deliver a well-proportioned number that ticks all the boxes. The track is just peeling back the layers and telling its own story as a crunching, dark, melodic guitar lick weaves its way through the track and really grabs us and lets us know that this is something special as the vocals really deliver a knockout punch that will have us reaching for the repeat button for sure.
