Bywater Call – ‘No One Else’ – Soul, Fire And Unstoppable Power

Review By Glen Parkes

Canadian roots-rock-soul collective Bywater Call return with No One Else, a retro-soul banger and the third single from their upcoming fourth album Broken Souvenirs, out July 29. Clearly, this is a band that knows exactly who they are — and 2026 is shaping up to be a brilliant year for them.

Drawing influence from The Black Pumas, Alabama Shakes, Baby Huey and even a touch of Rage Against The Machine, the track hits hard from the start. It’s built on an infectious rhythm, swathed in atmospheric keyboards and driven by an explosive horn section, blending classic and modern sounds into something unmistakably their own.

Lyrically, it’s sharp and powerful: a defiant rejection of liars, conmen and manipulators. As guitarist Dave Barnes explains, it reflects a world full of misinformation — but reminds us we hold the strength to take back control. The accompanying music video is equally striking, using fire and paper masks to symbolise deception and fragility in today’s society.

Recorded in Toronto and crafted with real care, No One Else is bold, emotional and musically thrilling. If this is the standard of Broken Souvenirs, we’re in for something truly special. Pour a drink, hit repeat, and enjoy yet again they hit it out the park with this track getting better and better every time .
