Metalcore Veterans Announce Spirit Breaker EP

After more than a decade of silence, Still Remains are back. The Grand Rapids, Michigan metalcore band – whose Roadrunner Records debut Of Love and Lunacy (2005) helped define the early 2000s metalcore movement – release their long-awaited new EP, Spirit Breaker, on June 12th through Arson Theory. It is the band’s first new music since their 2013 fan-funded full-length Ceasing to Breathe.
Produced and co-written by Lee Albrecht (Hollow Front, Gore, Of Virtue), the five-track EP is the band’s most personal and emotional record to date, both sonically and lyrically. The cover art comes from Kevin Moore / Mind Reader Inc (2026 Juno Award Winner, Album Artwork of the Year: Spiritbox – Tsunami Sea). Fans can pick it up on limited edition vinyl, CD, digital download or play via streaming.
Frontman T. J. Miller comments, “For this record we tried to stay true to the sound that our fans have grown to love, but also evolve a bit and add some more modern influences into our sound. We wanted this to sound like an updated version of the classic Still Remains sound, and I think we pulled it off. This is easily the most personal, and emotional record we’ve done from a lyrical standpoint.”
The lead single, “The Wound And The Weapon,” features a guest appearance from Guy Kozowyk of The Red Chord and marked the band’s first new music in over twelve years. Its official video – watch here – was directed by Dave Prindle.

| ABOUT STILL REMAINSFormed in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2001 out of the local hardcore bands Shades of Amber and Unition, Still Remains stood apart from their peers by weaving ethereal keyboards and a distinct euro-metal influence into American metalcore. After two early EPs, the band signed to Roadrunner Records and issued their acclaimed debut Of Love And Lunacy in May 2005. Driven by standout singles “The Worst Is Yet To Come” and “White Walls,” the album became a defining record of the era and earned the band minor UK chart success with “Stay Captive.” In their early years the band toured extensively alongside Trivium, Bullet For My Valentine, 3 Inches Of Blood, As I Lay Dying, August Burns Red, Atreyu, and Hawthorne Heights – appearing on the 2005 Roadrage Tour, the 2006 Kerrang! XXV Tour, multiple UK and European runs, and the 2007 Warped Tour. Their second Roadrunner release, The Serpent (2007), extended their international reach before the band went on hiatus in 2008. They reunited in 2011 with five original members from the Of Love And Lunacy era, releasing the fan-funded Ceasing To Breathe in December 2013. The band resumed more frequent live activity in 2023 and now arrives with their most vital music in over a decade. |
