Review By Darren McIntyre
AK & The Red Kites are a retro – infused rock trio who bring smokin – blues with a real edgy feel who aim to bring the party wherever it may be, Andrew is no stranger to the industry having previously been frontman for blues – rock band Trident Waters. Andrew began writing new music having eloped from the city life to the Chiltern Hills and the band takes it’s name of the new outfit from the creative process & where he is now as a person. The boys drop their debut EP Proverbial Storm which showcases Knightley’s eclectic range as a songwriter & a musician, sit back as I take us through this powering new banger.

Cosmic Train – From the off we get a sludgy rhythm section that kicks in the doors with a punchy snare / bass combo that lets the groove build as this kick ass groover leaves it’s mark. The soaring, gritty, rasping vocals lean in and really allow the track to show it’s teeth as the boys shift through the gears and really dig deep to bring us a killer groove that just works, the funking bassline is hitting us with a real dark, delicious tone that wraps itself around this foot stomping, fist pumping energy driven arrangement that just builds and builds with each note that shoots across our bow. The crisp, dirty licks are mergeing perfectly with the composition as the boys deliver a no nonsense, full on blues groover that just ticks all the boxes and then some, we feel the energy roaring through the track as Andrew tells his own story with his soaring vocals and slick guitar work that is all wrapped in a pounding rhythm section that lets the bassline deliver a killer groove that will leave us wanting more.
