Review by Linda McDermott

Aberdeen hard-rockers Deadfire are a band built on grit, graft, and proper road-tested experience. Formed by a group of mates with a shared love of loud guitars and no-nonsense rock ’n’ roll, they’ve spent over a decade carving out a reputation through relentless gigging. With a few line-up changes along the way, they have now settled into a band that continues to deliver songs that hit hard, play loud and keep things honest.

Charlie – vocals

Tunk – drums

Oi – bass

Alec – lead guitar

Dave – rhythm guitar

Musically, Deadfire deal in riff-driven hard rock with a dirty edge, drawing from classic heavy influences while keeping their sound grounded. They have released albums DeadFire and Hounds of Justice, alongside a run of punchy EPs and singles, that shows a band with attitude and impact.

On stage, that approach really comes alive, with high-energy performances, with frontman Charlie acting as the human spark that sets things alight. Rarely staying still, he’s either rolling across the stage, swinging from the rafters, or suddenly right in your face at the front barrier. When that’s not enough, he’s known to launch himself straight into the crowd, dragging fans into the chaos and turning the whole room into part of the show, while the rest of the band hold everything together in a calmer way.

This single is another belter from the guys and Charlie says of it, “it’s about never giving up or settling for anything less than what you want. Life’s a big mountain get out and conquer it.”

The song opens with a solid, heavy build-up that wastes no time in pulling you in, giving a clear sense of who Deadfire are even before it gets fully going. The identity is there in the music straight away, with the band setting the mood and direction long before the vocals arrive. When Charlie comes in, his distinctive voice lifts the track another level, adding character and urgency without overpowering what’s already been laid down.

The beat moves at a strong, driving pace, carrying the song forward and giving it a real sense of momentum. If your heads not nodding along with the rhythm, well, there’s no hope for you as a rocker! The chorus hits cleanly and sticks fast, easy to

embrace, and built for singing along to, whether you’re hearing it for the first time or the tenth.

Tunk and Oi keep everything moving with purpose, providing the push that holds the song together, while Alex and Dave shape the highs and lows, bringing movement and balance to the track. Their playing adds depth without clutter, letting the song breathe while keeping the energy high.

At its core, this track sums up exactly what Deadfire do best. It’s packed with hooks, driven by attitude, and designed to make an impact. There’s a directness to it that makes it instantly memorable, with the kind of chorus that stays with you, it’s confident, punchy, and hard not to enjoy.
