Paradise Sins – Taking No Prisioners

Single – Lash Back

Release Date – 23rd Oct 26

Review by Linda McDermott

Formed in 2022, Paradise Sins have wasted no time making their mark, touring across the UK, and headlining and selling out shows in their hometown of Birmingham.

In 2025, Paradise Sins hit the UK festival circuit for the first time, making an immediate impression at Call of the Wild by packing out the Trailblazer Stage. With two EPs under their belts, Untamed and Desires, they are clearly focused on taking things to the next level.

I saw them take to the stage at Rockmantic in Grimsby this time last year, where they filled the stage with great songs and attitude. This year, they played a brilliant acoustic set at Mayor Fest in Wolverhampton, showing they have more to offer than just a full-on rock show.

Lash Back is the first single from the band’s debut album, Some Kind of Utopia, which is due out in spring/summer 2027.

The band say of the song “The subject matter of this single comes from the darker side of the band’s psyche; this track is a take-no-prisoners assault on all who might seek to put a halt to their ascension. The track captures feelings of frustration, betrayal, and defiance, whilst bouncing and grooving infectiously. This new single showcases Paradise Sins’ more mature identity and sound with a contemporary twist, while still delivering the trademark bite and dark-but-fun-loving nature of their previous releases. “Lash Back” is a perfect first release to represent the forthcoming album, carrying all of the signature craziness, mirth and gilt-edged riffing that the band are known for, whilst showcasing a step into the quintet’s wider love of music, showmanship and connection with their audience.”

The song kicks off with a brilliant build-up intro that grabs my attention straight away with its beat, and it doesn’t take long for the catchy chorus to draw you in. After a couple of listens, you’ll find yourself singing along, and before you know it, it’s become a real earworm, with the chorus going round and round in your head. There’s a great energy about it that makes me think this could be a highlight of a live set, especially with those gutsy guitar solos adding to its appeal.

While the bouncy music makes it an easy fit for a feel-good summer playlist, the lyrics tell a slightly different story. There’s a clear message of defiance running through the song, with Paradise Sins making it known that they’re not about to let anyone stand in the way of their ambitions. I like that contrast between the upbeat sound and the attitude behind the words, because who doesn’t enjoy a song with a bit of bite?

To me, the message is simple: don’t mess with Paradise Sins. They’re determined, focused and aiming high, and I’d be more than happy to see them achieve their ambitions with this song leading the way.
