THE NEW POP CLASSICAL VOICE RELEASES HER DEBUT EP‘BIG BEAUTIFUL MUSIC’ ON JULY 24th LISTEN TO ‘O MIO’ HERE PLAYS A LONDON SHOWCASE AT THE W HOTEL ON JULY 23RD ![]() Krista Sher Selico is the new pop classical voice: an artist with a flair for taking the timeless class and elegance of opera and making it accessible and exciting for a contemporary audience. Having already attracted a million followers at Instagram, she now announces the July 24th release of her debut album ‘Big Beautiful Music’. It’s a compelling introduction to Krista’s talents, an interpretation as intimate as it is breathtakingly beautiful. It will beguile new fans into a classic art form, who previously may have thought that opera wasn’t for them. Krista says, “I wanted to strip away the diva and find the heartbeat of the melody. Something more intimate, more sensual, and purely from the soul. This isn’t the opera house version. This is the version for late nights, open fields, and finding beauty in the quiet moments.” The 6-track ‘Big Beautiful Music’ project emphasises Krista’s limitless potential as an artist who can take opera to the people. She applies her stunning four-octave vocal range to arias such as ‘Quando M’en Vo’ (from ‘La bohème’), ‘Vissi D’arte’ (from ‘Tosca’), O Mio Babbino Caro (from ‘Gianni Schicchi’ by Puccini) (in the process also introduces her multilingual skills (English, Italian, French, and German). She adds, “Recording these iconic lyric soprano arias in my hometown of Los Angeles with a full symphony orchestra is the realization of a lifelong dream. I wanted to honor the world’s most cherished lyric soprano repertoire by wrapping it in the lush, expansive textures of a live symphony orchestra. ‘Big Beautiful Music’ represents my first ever symphonic recordings and is my love letter to opera’s most breathless melodies, captured with the sweeping, cinematic scale they truly deserve.” Krista recorded the album between sessions at Warner Bros Eastman Soundstage under the baton of the renowned Anthony Parthner(music director at the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra, with further credits including Jon Batiste and Rihanna) . “Big Beautiful Music” is only one aspect of Krista’s multifaceted musical pedigree. She previously released two re-imagined arias: “Ebben” which was submitted for a Grammy and “O Mio” which she produced in collaboration with Mark Batson (Alicia Keys, Dave Matthews Band, LeAnn Rimes, Power Book IV, Spider-Man 2, etc.). She’s currently putting the final touches on her next album, “La Figlia” scheduled to be released this fall, features soaring original self-penned pop classical songs. Recorded at Abbey Road with Chinese-American pianist and composer Nathan Wang (who has scored over three hundred films for Hollywood and Asian cinema) alongside the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Further collaborators include Dave Reitzas (Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Josh Groban). In preparation for her concert tour, Queen of the Games, she’s producing gaming music with British Composer and Songwriter Alexander Rudd (Arknight: Endfield, It Was Always You, The Grand Tour, Atlanta). Krista believes the music scores created for video games is in actuality the current opera stage for this generation. Accompanied by Rudd, Krista will display her vocal mastery at the showcase as a precursor to her concert tour exhibiting a seamless foray from classical arias to interstitial gaming renditions to inspiring originals defining the next level of pop classical music and performance. Krista Sher Selico grew up immersed in music as her mother managed the Orpheum Theatre, home of the New Orleans Symphony. Her talents continue a family lineage of great musicians which date back to her paternal relative, Marie Selika Williams, who became the first black opera singer to perform at the White House back in 1878. Krista’s exceptional voice was discovered in childhood, leading her to enroll in operatic music training. She was just 13-years-old when she landed a record deal, but the major label’s attempts to shape her as an R&B artist felt at odds with her classical passions. Instead, she unlocked other opportunities: a featured soloist in the music for the Steven Spielberg film ‘Amistad’ which was scored byJohn Williams; her first opera production, ‘Alcina’, at the Luckman Theater in Los Angeles; and continuing her musical studies at the USC’s Thornton School of Music, at the prestigious L’accedemia de Monte Carlo and at the University of Southern California. A rare opportunity to see Krista perform in an intimate setting comes with an invite-only showcase session at London’s W Hotel on July 23rd .
