Royal Republic are a Garage / Alternative / Hard / Rock n Roll band from Malmo, Sweden who were formed in 2007, the boys have supported the likes of Social Distortion, The Subways, Die Toten Hosen & Blink 182. The boys have given us 5 studio albums to date – We Are The Royal in 2010, Save The Nation in 2012, Royal Republic & The Nosebreakers in 2014, Weekend Man in 2016 & Club Majesty in 2019. The boys dropped Lovecop last year and have been busy in the studio bringing us some new tunes, enter The Blastbeaters the corpse – painted, volvo – driving, bad decision making alter – egos that are going to blow our minds with their take on the Bee Gees classic Stayin Alive that I will be bringing you today.
Stayin Alive – A classy, cool synth groove wanders through the intro as a crunching, dark guitar riff lets this classic track come to life as we get smooth, soulful vocals that kicks in the doors and lets us have it. The rhythm section leans in with a punchy snare drum groove that works so well with this mash up that just gets those feet moving, the backing vocals are just letting the track break free as the boys dive straight into this fantastic track and make it their own. The slick, clean synth / guitar solo really sets this tune apart from the rest as we feel the energy pouring from the boys as they step out of their comfort zone and hit us with this pimped up, fist punching rock n roll groover that instantly lets you throw some shapes and get us movin and a groovin. The boys have the knack of taking a tune, turning it on it’s head and cranking out a classy, well thought out arrangement that puts a smile on your face.
