Review By Darren McIntyre
Eva Under Fire are a quintet rock/post-grunge/alternative metal band from Detroit, Michigan, who originally formed in 2015. The band has given us albums Anchors in 2015 & Love, Drugs & Misery in 2022, 2 singles, and they have been busy in the studio bringing us their first new music in over 2 years as they drop Awakening, which is a track that deals with loss, healing and what we deal with on a daily basis. Amanda drew on her career as a psychotherapist specialising in trauma, grief, loss and addiction recovery to delve deep into the world we live in and hopefully bring some peace through the power of music. The band brings us their colossal new single Awakening, which I will be reviewing for you today.
Awakening – The track kicks off with a real heavy-ended sampler beat that entwines with cool guitar riffs that lets the track come at us with a real energy as the band hits the ground running. The pounding rhythm section is controlling the groove as the soaring vocals kick in the doors and really give us what we have been missing from this exciting 5-piece; the crunching guitar licks are flowing freely through the track as a deep, delicious bassline swoops in and joins the party as the groove just wraps itself around us as we feel the depth oozing from the band. The tempo changes pace several times through the arrangement as the band ramps up the emotion that is pouring from each member as this thundering, foot-stomping beast certainly leaves its mark on us today.
