Review By Darren McIntyre
Tyler Dow Bryant is a two-time Grammy Award-winning producer/songwriter/musician from Honey Grove, Texas, who came to our attention in 2002. Tyler got his first guitar at age 6; when he was 11, he sold his dirt bike, a present from his parents, & bought his first guitar. At 15, Tyler put together his first band, and the rest, they say, is history. Tyler moved to Nashville aged 17, where he met Caleb Crosby & Calvin Webster and formed Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown. Tyler is taking a break at the minute and is writing and recording with new musicians, and today he teams up with his wife, Rebecca Lovell, to bring us his stunning new single, Mama Like To Rock, which I will be reviewing for you today.
Mama Like To Rock – A sweet, clean guitar pick opens the track as incredible Hammond-style keys let the track breathe as a deep, punchy bass kick lets the track flow. Tyler brings his soothing, gravelly vocals to the track as the toe-tapping ditty really shines; we get the smouldering, sultry vocals as Rebecca leans in and lets the track build. There is a real mellow upright bass that just elevates the track somewhat as we feel the bluesy, country beat weave its way through this fantastic piece of music. The rhythm section is hitting us with a nice, punchy snare drum kick as the cymbal snaps let the groove wander freely through the arrangement. The killer track is just incredible, as Tyler gives us a real slowed-down, melodic number that just settles into its stride as the band comes together and really delivers a sweet, punchy, toe-tapping composition that will have you reaching for the repeat button for sure.
