Jared James Nichols is a six-string shredding powerhouse from Wisconsin but is now based in Nashville, Tennessee, where he unleashes unapologetic rock ‘n’ roll. He has a voice full of grit and a fretboard that roars with fire & fury. Jared is celebrated by American Songwriter, Guitar World & Relix; he has tallied millions of streams worldwide and built a devoted fanbase. Gibson Guitars recognise his impact by naming him one of only 4 global brand ambassadors worldwide. Jared’s journey has not come without hardship – cancelled tours, collapsed labels, breakdowns on the road and even a freak accident that left him with 20 screws in his arm. Jared has just signed with Frontiers Music Srl and brought us his first sizzling single, Ghost, that will certainly cement him with a new raw edgy groove; today he follows that with this incredible new offering, Killing Time, which I will be reviewing for you today.

Killing Time – We get a crisp, clean acoustic tone that lingers through the intro as Jared unleashes his soaring, gravelly, blues-soaked vocals that really give this track a real mellow tone. The track changes tempo as a colossal stringed section ripples through the track and adds depth and sheer magnetism to this blistering track that certainly shows Jared in a different light. The lyrics are just pulling at our heartstrings as the thought-provoking tones just really tell their own story as this epic track builds in momentum as we ready ourselves for the blowout, bang, and off we go as Jared changes to his usual guitar and immediately sets about bringing us a well-thought-out piece that showcases his incredible fingerwork that is just building as the rhythm section kicks in the doors and hits us with a real punchy groove that fits the arrangement perfectly. We are feeling the shift in this guy’s groove and songwriting, as this track proves that beneath the layers there is a colossal songwriter as well as a phenomenal guitar player; the whole layout is just oozing quality, depth and soul as we reach for the repeat button to bring this incredible track to life.
