There’s something special about catching an artist on the rise just as momentum starts to build, and tonight at The Garage in Glasgow, Sam Morrow proves exactly why his name is travelling far beyond his roots. Hailing originally from Houston, via Los Angeles, and now firmly planted in Nashville, Morrow brings with him a melting pot of rock ‘n’ roll, blues, country, and that unmistakable funky-tonk swagger that defines his sound.

With five studio albums already under his belt—including Gettin By On Gettin Down, Concrete & Mud, There Is No Map, Ephemeral, and the more recent On The Ride Here—Morrow has crafted a sound that refuses to sit still. Tonight feels like a statement of intent as he steps onto the famous Garage stage, greeted by a buzzing Glasgow crowd ready to soak it all in.

Kicking things off with “On My Way”, the band wastes no time setting the tone. It’s gritty, it’s raw, and it hits with purpose. Morrow’s vocals are rich with character, instantly pulling the crowd into his world. “South Texas Woman” follows, dripping with southern charm and groove, as fists rise and cheers echo across the venue.

The energy continues to build with “Cigarettes”, a track that leans into that bluesy undercurrent, while “Lecretia” showcases the band’s tight musicianship and effortless chemistry. It’s here that lead guitarist Junior Patterson really shines, delivering slick, soulful licks that elevate the performance to another level.

“Paid By The Mile” keeps the momentum rolling, a road-worn anthem that resonates with the audience, before the band throws in a curveball with a rousing cover of “Have A Cigar” by Pink Floyd. It’s bold, it’s unexpected, and it absolutely lands—Morrow and his band putting their own stamp on a classic with confidence and flair.

Throughout the set, the connection between band and crowd is undeniable. Morrow takes moments to thank the Glasgow faithful, clearly appreciative of the warm reception, and it’s met with roaring approval. There’s an authenticity here that can’t be faked—this is a band that lives and breathes their music.

Backing Morrow is a powerhouse lineup. Junior Patterson’s lead guitar work is nothing short of sublime, while Michael Frost lays down a solid, driving bassline that anchors every track. Behind the kit, Wildman Boone delivers a punchy, no-nonsense performance that keeps the rhythm section locked in tight.

By the time the final notes ring out, one thing is certain—Sam Morrow isn’t just passing through. He’s making his mark, and Glasgow has well and truly taken him to heart. A blistering set from a band on the rise, and one that promises even bigger things to come.
