Review By Darren McIntyre
A Thousand Horses are a Country / Southern Rock band from Newberry, South Carolina via Nashville, Tennessee who came to our attention in 2010. Michael Hobby & Bill Satcher grew up in Newberry and began writing songs aged 15 and the rest they say is history, the band are continueing to make music and excite their fans and this has allowed the 2 x ACM Award Nominated band with over 320 Million streams to bring us the best music they can. The boys have given us Southernality in 2015, Bridges in 2017, Broken Heartland in 2022 & The Outside in 2024, the boys have been hard at work in the studio and will drop their new album White Flag Down on the 27th February, 2026, to wet our appetites the boys deliver their blistering new single Dead Man Walking which I will be reviewing for you today.
Dead Man Walking – The track unfolds with a shredding power riff that has a punchy, pounding rhythm section that hits us with a cool bass beat that lets the snare drum kicks allow the track to breathe. The vocals lean in and really let the track deliver a real crunching groove that has us stamping our feet and punching the air as this rousing rock n roll monster unfolds, the dark, brooding bassline is handing us a real mellow funk tone that just lets the track build and build. The tempo changes pace as the slick, crisp guitar licks come to our attention as the melodic rocker track kicks in the doors and lets us have it both barrels as they continue where they left off with this catchy, groove laden rock beast that will have us reaching for the repeat button for sure.
