| Synth-pop legends Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), are bringing the hits to Dreamland in Margate, so bring your dancing shoes and join them for their Summer Of Hits show, on Saturday 25th July on the famous Scenic Stage. As for those hits, well… announcing themselves with their first singles ‘Electricity’ and ‘Messages’, ‘Enola Gay’ then went Platinum and started quite the run: ‘Souvenir’, ‘Joan Of Arc’, ‘Maid Of Orleans (The Waltz Joan of Arc), ‘Locomotion’, ‘Talking Loud and Clear’, ‘Tesla Girls’, ‘So In Love’, ‘(Forever) Live and Die’, ‘Sailing On The Seven Seas’, ‘Pandora’s Box’, and on. As the Dreamland show will prove, OMD are truly spoilt for choice when it comes to picking a set list for a show. OMD’s Andy McCluskey said, “There is no better experience than playing outdoors in the summer. So a concert at the seaside with some of our amazing musical friends is going to be one fantastic party.” Now, added as special guest to join the previously announced line up, Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey is joining Peter Hook & The Light and Andrew Cushin on the bill in Margate. The Thompson Twins are one of the most iconic bands of the 1980’s – and were a continuous chart presence on both sides of the Atlantic. Tom Bailey from the band now performs as Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey. At Dreamland he will celebrate the Thompson Twins’ Greatest Hits including ‘Hold Me Now’, ‘Doctor Doctor’, ‘In the Name Of Love’, ‘Love On Your Side’, ‘If You Were Here’, ‘We Are Detective’, ‘Lies’, ‘Lay Your Hands On Me’ and ‘King for A Day’ to name a few. This Dreamland show is set to be a hit-filled celebration of the best in British popular music! OMD themselves pioneered their genre, combining massive chart success with experimentation on albums such as “Organisation” (1980) “Architecture and Morality” (1981) and “Dazzle Ships” (1983) which propelled them into the stratosphere and helped shape the musical landscape of the eighties. Celebrating four decades of success, OMD returned in 2023 with their first new studio album since 2017 with “Bauhaus Staircase”, which went to No.2. OMD have sold over 40 million records worldwide, and their live set is full of energy and loaded with their hits, so don’t miss them at Dreamland! |
