Single – Alive Again

The Hot One Two aren’t messing about when it comes to flying the flag for rock ’n’ roll. Hailing from Cambridge, the four-piece have been turning heads since 2017, when bassist Nick Blackburn, guitarist Nick Manners, and drummer Joe Chivers first got together. Things really kicked up a notch the following year with the arrival of lead singer Simon West, a voice and presence that completed the band and took it forward.
They gave us their amazing debut album Superbia back in November 2023, toured hard with it, and hammered home that they’re in it for the long haul. But not ones to rest on their laurels, they’ve spent the first half of 2025 locked away, writing and recording the follow-up. The result is Virtues, set to drop on 10th October, and from the sound of things, it’s shaping up to hone and expand their sound.
“Alive Again” is the second single lifted from that new album, an album built around the seven virtues and designed as a sharp contrast to their debut Superbia, which took on the seven deadly sins.
This song is about belief, support, and finding your way back when life knocks you down. At its heart, “Alive Again” is a reminder that nobody has to face things alone. It’s delivered with guts and energy that lift the spirits, think driving guitars, an anthemic chorus, and a feel-good attitude, and you’re there. Catchy and upbeat, this single is made for the live stage and is bound to become another firm favourite with the band’s ever-growing fan base.
The track kicks off with guitar and a beat that grabs you straight away, pulling you right into the song. Simon’s vocals cut through clearly, and for me, that’s a big plus, because I like to hear the lyrics in a song. As the story unfolds, the music drives things forward before hitting a chorus that’s so catchy I’m already singing along.
As the song progresses there’s a great section in it where everything is stripped right back, Simon sings, guitars build up and we’re led into that final chorus.
It’s an uplifting tune and I can picture it now, a field full of people at a festival, arms in the air, voices raised, singing along and turning it into something very emotional and special.
