Review By Darren McIntyre
Fail,Slyder Smith is a singer / songwriter originally from Somerset, England but now resides in Rural Scotland and is best known as the frontman as frontman for The Last Great Dreamers. He went on to form Slyder Smith & The Oblivion Kids and has successful tours with the likes of The Quireboys, Enuff ‘ Z ‘ Nuff, The Wildhearts, The Alarm, The Boys & Wolfsbane, since relocating to Scotland he has had a number of support slots to Electric Boys & Cherie Currie. He has been locked away writing and recording and has written a batch of songs to be released in the coming months with an album to follow in 2026, to wet our appetites Slyder srops his hook laden new track, Plan To Fail which I will be reviewing for you today.
Plan To Fail – We get a galloping guitar riff that brings in the punchy rhythm section that controls the flow of this gritty rockin’ beast as the dark, brooding bassline drops in and gives us a real funky tone. The gravelly, melodic vocals bring this 90’s-inspired rocker to life as we feel the energy oozing from Slyder and the boys as the lyrics wrap themselves around us and bring the toe-tapping melodies to our attention. The snare drum kicks are letting the track express itself as the real rockin’ vocals lead the charge of this hook-laden rock ‘n’ roll bruiser as the tempo changes pace. A sweet, melodic guitar solo erupts through the midsection, and Slyder lets his fingers do the talking as this fast, furious rocker gathers pace and lets us know that Slyder is back and back with a bang.
