Review by Linda McDermott
isGreyfox Conspiracy are a five-piece rock outfit from South Wales, made up of musicians who’ve clearly spent a lifetime honing their craft. Their roots run deep, and you can hear that history in the way they write their songs about life, loss, loyalty, and the kind of stories that mature over time rather than being rushed out.

Kenn Barnes – Lead Guitar,
Rob Cooksley – Vocals,
Darren Richards – Bass,
David Harris – Rhythm Guitar,
Bob Richards – Drums (Studio), Mikey J. (Live)
Shine is where they truly shine: on stage. Dressed to impress and led by frontman Rob “Greyfox Growl”, the band throw themselves into live performances with a kind of wholehearted, nothing-held-back energy that aims to show off the character of every member. And it works.
, Preacherman, Their new album, Preacherman, reflects that same spirit. As Rob puts it, the record was “hand-crafted in the rugged hills of South Wales by five battle-hardened musicians,” and that chemistry really does come through. The sound is raw, unfiltered, and rooted in rock with shades of southern grit. What surprised me most is the way the album weaves through history. The title track, Preacherman, is built around the story of Pierre Bernard Hill, a Presbyterian minister turned Texas Ranger, while Crazy Horse pays tribute to the Native American leader who stood against the federal government to protect Indigenous lands. There’s a strong factual thread running through much of the album, which gives the songs real weight.
taps It’s not all historical, though; Greyfox Conspiracy also taps into themes of loyalty and brotherhood, with tracks such as I’ve Got Your Back offering a more personal side. It balances the album nicely, giving you those big, narrative-led moments alongside songs that feel grounded in lived experiences.

With Rob’s rugged, distinctive vocals and those surprising high notes he pulls out when needed, the songs are pushed forward with real strength. He’s surrounded by a band who clearly know their way around their instruments, and that mix gives the album a powerful and raw attitude that really suits their style. It’s obvious Greyfox Conspiracy have put a lot of thought into this record, and the storytelling throughout is a mark of their commitment to making this one a proper standout album.
Pick of the tracks for me has to be Preacherman; as an opener, it dives straight into what the band is all about and sets the tone for everything that follows. Branded Man twists and turns musically, with guitar work that hits another level entirely. Then there’s Time Will Tell, which comes in with a great classic rock feel and a touch of blues in the intro, carrying a message about what we’ve done to the world; it’s poignant, relevant, and very well delivered. Every track has its own strengths as the band weaves their tales with energy, heart, and plenty of character.
From my perspective, the album shows a band who know exactly who they are and what they want to say. It’s honest, well-crafted, and made to be felt as much as heard, with its rousing tracks, and that’s very much in keeping with Greyfox Growl’s own words: “If music doesn’t move you, grip your soul, or tear at your emotions, then it’s not worth doing.”
With Preacherman, they’ve clearly taken that ethos to heart and delivered a fantastic album that feels lived-in, confident, and full of purpose; it leaves you wanting to go back in for another listen just to catch everything they’ve woven into it. Well done, guys.
The band is having an album release party at The Patriot, Crumlin, Newport, on Friday, 12th Dec, so get along there if you can.
