REVIEWER – GRAEME WRIGHT
Now that the epic new Megadeth record has hit its street date, the album I’m most looking forward to hearing in 2026 is the new TAILGUNNER album, ‘Midnight Blitz’. Officially formed in 2022 the band have made huge strides in a relatively short period of time, supporting the likes of KK’s Priest, U.D.O. and Armored Saint in the last couple of years. The bands influences are obviously the classic Metal Bands, with nods to the likes of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest to name but two.
‘Eulogy’ is the third release from the forthcoming record and probably the best song we’ve heard from this band so far. Epic in scope and tone, it’s heavy yet accessible, and it sees the band in full story teller mode. The bands trademark twin guitars are very evident on this track and we are treated to six minutes of hugely controlled and powerful traditional Heavy Metal at its finest. The Maiden influence is there for all to see and hear, but this band are so much more than that and I expect the new album to be the one that sends them through the stratosphere.
Tom Hewson has never sounded better and his vocal performance soars on this song from the opening note to the epic conclusion. Another fabulous tune from a band who are going places. I’ve yet to catch them live, which I will need to address this year because I suspect we will be seeing these guys climbing the ladder at a vast rate of knots. Great stuff, roll on album release date.
