Pentagram’s Bobby Liebling And Sonny Vincent Open Up About AI Art, Vinyl Quality, And The Future Of The Limit

Metal Devastation Radio’s Zach Moonshine recently sat down with underground music legends Bobby Liebling of Pentagram and Sonny Vincent of Testors and The Limit for an in-depth interview covering a wide range of topics surrounding The Limit’s upcoming sophomore album, Another Drop, due out July 31 via Silver Lining Music.

During the conversation, Liebling and Vincent offered fans a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the new album, upcoming touring plans, songwriting, recording techniques, vinyl production, and their evolving views on artificial intelligence in creative fields.

One of the interview’s most compelling moments centered around AI-generated artwork and The Limit’s decision not to use AI art for the cover of Another Drop.

“We really didn’t want to use AI artwork,” Vincent explained while discussing the album’s visual presentation.

At the same time, Vincent acknowledged the rapidly changing role of AI in modern creative work, comparing its current reception to the early days of CDs and mobile phones, both of which initially faced skepticism before becoming mainstream.

“I think we’re in a transition where some people are very allergic to AI and some people think it’s a cool creative tool,” Vincent stated.

The discussion explored the balance between traditional artistic expression and emerging technology, a topic that continues to generate debate throughout the music industry.

Beyond the AI conversation, the interview revealed the extraordinary lengths taken to ensure the highest possible audio quality for Another Drop. Vincent disclosed that he personally rejected the album’s initial vinyl test pressing after extensive listening sessions on multiple sound systems, including high-end audiophile equipment.

Rather than compromising, the band worked with respected mastering engineers to refine the final product and bring the vinyl release closer to the sound and energy of the original recordings.

The interview also covered:

• The making of The Limit’s upcoming album Another Drop

• New singles including “Another Drop Of Blood” and “Part 2, Screw You”

• Plans for a third single and future music videos

• Upcoming performances, including an appearance at Wacken Open Air

• Songwriting themes explored throughout the new album

• Vintage recording techniques and gear used during production

• Bobby Liebling’s current Pentagram touring schedule and future recording plans

• The evolution of The Limit from collaboration to full-fledged band

Throughout the conversation, both musicians emphasized that The Limit has grown into far more than a side project, developing its own identity through a unique blend of punk attitude, hard rock swagger, and doom metal authenticity.
