Review By Darren McIntyre
FM are a 5 piece rock band from London, England who originally formed in 1984, the boys kicked off their career in 1985 when they played the legendary Marquee Club. The boys quickly gathered attention from far and wide and they went on to share the stage with the likes of Thin Lizzy, Bon Jovi, Foreigner & Europe, they have graced the stages of festivals like Download, Graspop & Sweden Rock. The boys have given us 14 studio albums, 5 EP’s, 6 Compilations, 4 Live albums and on the 5th September the boys deliver album 15 in the form of Brotherhood, from that comes single Don’t Call It Love which I will be reviewing for you.
Don’t Call It Love – A cool raspy guitar riff gets the track off the ground as the punchy rhythm section leans in and brings a cool groove that really gives the track a fresh, funky feel. Steve comes in with his soulful, melodic tones as the track builds and builds with ease as the smooth tone just flows effortlessly through the track, the cool low end comes at us and brings a funking, mellow groove that fits the arrangement perfectly. The keys are littered throughout the track and just add depth to this classic composition as we get a toe tapping, funk beat that just comes naturally to this classic band as they get better and better with each release, the tempo is a cool, mellow, punchy beat that lets a slick, clean guitar lick flow easily through the well thought out lyric laden number. The addition of the backing vocals adds energy, swagger and really allows the boys to give it all they have as this punchy rocker track will have you reaching for the repeat button for sure.
