Review By Darren McIntyre
The Damn Truth are a critically acclaimed 4-piece rock ‘n’ roll juggernaut from Montreal, Canada, who I am proud to call friends but are also a real cool bunch of musicians. The band brought us Now Or Nowhere back in 2021 and toured the UK & Europe in support of this killer slab of rock ‘n’ roll. After nearly 4 years of bringing their infectious brand of rock music to the masses, the band return with their new self-titled album, The Damn Truth. In support of this blistering slab of music, the band dropped the single Addicted and followed that with this real emotion-filled toe-tapping groover, Be Somebody, which I will be reviewing for you today.
Be Somebody – The track begins with a nice, melodic acoustic strumming tone as Lee lets her smouldering, mellow vocals lead the charge in this toe-tapping arrangement. The rhythm section leans in and brings us a cool, funky snare drum beat as the bass kicks let the track build and really bring the emotion to this killer composition; the dark, delicious low end is dropping in with a real seductive tone that wraps itself around this catchy, groove-laden piece that really lets Lee deliver some smouldering, raspy vocals that just elevate the track somewhat. The slick, crisp guitar licks are flowing freely through the track as Tom kicks in the doors and lets us have it, as the thundering drum fills from Dave really add depth, swagger and plenty of attitude to this killer track that is building in waves and really grabs our attention.
