By Justin Smulison
Danish rockers D-A-D released their 13th studio album, Speed Of Darkness, just in time for their 40th anniversary. Released by AFM Records, the 14 new tracks in many ways continue the tradition explored on their recent Greatest Hits double-disc collection (also available from AFM), where the quartet can belt out head-banging anthems, tear-jerking ballads, reverb-heavy mid-tempo rock tracks made for traveling.
Singer and guitarist Jacob Binzer met with Jace Media Contributor Justin Smulison to discuss the sociopolitical themes that permeate some of the lyrics, the evolution and subsequent cohesiveness of the band’s songwriting process. They also talk about how D-A-D will keep the live experience fresh for the fans with upcoming shows in the EU this Fall with numerous shows in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany and Switzerland, as well as a completely sold-out show in Royal Arena in Denmark on November 1.
Song clips: “Keep That Mother Down” // Official Lyric Video HERE, “Crazy Wings.”
