Flotsam & Jetsam continues their streak of metal mastery with I Am The Weapon, the latest in a succession of remarkable output. Available from AFM Records, I Am The Weapon picks up where 2021’s Blood In The Water left off, with a potent blend of power and thrash metal on standout tracks like the “Burned My Bridges,” and “Primal.”

Nearly 40 years after their arrival on the metal scene, the Arizona-based quintet demonstrates it can throw some curveballs, by incorporating some elements of rock and groove on tracks like “Beneath The Shadows.”

Now 15 albums deep into their career, the band plays with a level of ferocity unmatched by many of their peers. Did having the same lineup for the first time in several years help them reach a new creative peak? In this video interview, guitarist and band co-founder Michael Gilbert joined contributor Justin Smulison to discuss what drives the metal mainstays, their collaborative process, and what would be in store for fans should a new Flotsam & Jetsam tour commence.
