Anyone in search of fun, melodic rock (with a dash of metal) should be heavy into Robert Majd. Best known as a bass player for Metalite, Majd’s bands, Captain Black Beard and Nighthawk, capture the freeing spirit of 1980s AOR with extra groovy flourishes that will get any listener or concertgoer to get out of their seat.

Nighthawk’s third album, Vampire Blues, was released this summer by Pride & Joy Music and features Linnea Vikström (Thundermother) on vocals, Robban Eriksson (The Hellacopters) & Peter Hermansson (220 Volt) on drums, Nalle Påhlsson (Treat) on bass and Richard Hamilton (Houston) on keyboards.
Though the lead vocals may be entirely different, the band has produced a worthy successor to Prowler, which featured singer Bjorn Strid of Night Flight Orchestra (who will return on the fourth Nighthawk album). This is a compilation of fast paced, spontaneous, action rock n roll songs with two covers; Aerosmith’s “S.O.S. (Too Bad)” and Sam & Dave’s “Hold It Baby” (featuring Danny Hynes from Weapon).

The team at Pride & Joy also had the wisdom to re-issue Sonic Forces, a fan favorite album from Captain Black Beard; they also released New Clear Power by Weapon, a band fronted by Hynes. Majd co-wrote and produced that fantastic record.
Robert has been on Jace Media Music Interviews several times because he always has something in motion. It was so much fun to talk with this talented Swede about his new music, the re-release and what’s on the horizon.
You can also check out Majd’s appearance with Metalite from January 2024.
